Building Trust

As a major player in the field of customs brokerage and representation for over 60 years, we have become experts in managing sensitive client data and information against official customs offices, port authorities and carriers. We build trust by ensuring that no third parties get access to any customer data that we may be exposed to. In addition, we refrain from out-sourcing to third parties core company processes that hold valuable or sensitive information. All information is treated on a need-to-know basis and it is only transmited to third-parties when neccessary to complete a client order and only after we have receieved the client's written or oral consent.

Customs Rerpesentation

AL-MA is a company mandated by the Greek Law regarding customs brokerage (4955/22 ex. 718/77) and customs representation. This law, as well the wider EU legislation on customs representation, enforces very strict rules on data accumulation, maintenance, archival, dissemination and exploitation. Thus, we do not make use of any data or customer information for any reason other than executing client orders and subsequently for the invoicing of our services. To make sure we adhere to the strict rules encompassing customs representation, all our information and communication technologies are produced and maintained in house by the AL-MA team. These include, bur are not limited to, our mail servers, our invoicing and auditing system, our document manager, as well as this website and the hosted web applications and online services portal.

General Data Protection Regulation

Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).

We take data privacy very seriously. We will not sell your data or share it with anyone unless compelled by a court of law or in the case that is needed in executing our services. In certain cases while executing our service, it is possible that we may ask for personal information. We will only use this personal information for the sole purpose of executing this order / service and according to the Greek Law pertaining to customs brokerage and freight transportation.

Types of data we may gather through our online services:
  1. When you visit the website for the first time, we will store your IP address and web browser version. This information is used to match your preferences (for example language or login username) and save it in a cookie to make repeat visits easier.
  2. When you register as a new user for our web application and online services, we ask you to provide us your first and last name, your company name and email address. To complete the registration you will have to enter a password. The password is hashed and stored in a secret manager while the information will be transmited only under SSL encrypted connection. The password will never be visible to us, and if lost, it can be reset but not retrieved.
  3. Once the online registration is submitted, accounts will not be online unless verified by offline sources. In most cases, we will need contact you directly via phone or email communication or in rare cases in person, to verify your identity and registration information.
  4. Registered and verified users will be able to access their orders as well as certain trade tools that optimize the customs brokerage and freight forwarding process.
  5. By registering on this website you agree and give us consent to store the information for the purposes outlined herein and under our terms of service.
  6. This information will never be sold or shared with anyone except the AL-MA team and only for the reason of trouble-shooting problems or optimizing the services provided.
Privacy by design

As we are not in the business of profiting by exploiting customer data and user information, we do our outmost by design to protect and maintain our customer and user privacy. To help with this, we refrain from using any third party plugins the monitor for example, website traffic or website usage statistics. We do not have advertisements, endorsements or any form of marketing or sales campaigns. The website and any online service hosted by us, is created in-house using the ASP.NET Core 6.0 framework and it is maintained and operated exclusively by us. Our core invoicing system is maintained offline.

Right to access your data

We will not at any point withold you from accessing your own data and we can provide copies of the stored data for your review or backup should you request it. However, we do reserve the right to delete or discard your data, should we believe that you have broken our terms of service or on the rare occasion that your account or login credentials have been compromised.

Right to be forgotten

All users and our customers always maintain the right to have their data deleted from our systems. This can be very easily done by sending a request through our communication channels. In some cases, especially those relating to customs office cases, note that we might be obliged to maintain hard copies of the customs documentation for up to 10 years, and as stipulated by the Greek and EU law.
